Ruth Probst was born in the German part of Switzerland in 1953 as the youngest of three siblings. Since a young age she and her brothers helped in many chores and housework that helped grow their talents as sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking and anything that needed attention in their home.
Working with her hands and setting new goals was a way of challenging herself by extending her horizon. She became a kinder teacher and for a few years passed her love for the handicrafts to her students before her two children came along. While being a full-time mother she enjoyed taking evening classes in basket making, woodwork and more, extending her skills with every class taken a bit further.
After retiring, she moved to San Miguel de Allende in 2006 and started to work with clay again reinforcing her technique and felt in love with the craftmanship of the materials. In present days Ruth has been doing pottery for the past six years with the help and support of the teacher Rosa Torres.
Ruth hopes her work reflects the deep appreciation of the art and ultimately her love for life itself.
